Anyone is entitled to submit an article to Heavy Metal Nation for publishing. It can be a review, an interview, a buying guide, fiction, or an opinion. So long as we think it belongs here, we will consider it.
There are, of course, some provisions that must be met:
- All articles should be your own work. Anything discovered to be written by someone else will be deleted.
- All articles should not be available on the internet elsewhere. It should also not be available in a magazine. Exptions to this rule include articles previously published on websites that have closed, and articles that are published in hard to find/access magazines etc. Please check that you actually own the rights in this case (even if you wright something, if you allow someone to publish it, you may be giving them the rights on reproduction). Personal blogs and social network sites are acceptable, but you might want to update your facebook etc to include a link to the article here.
- All articles submitted to Heavy Metal Nation remain the propery of the author. Despite this, we reserve the publishing rights on articles submitted. What does this mean? Basically, if you've submitted something to us, and we publish it, you should not then submit it to someone else for publishing without telling us first. If you wish an article published here to be published elsewhere, the likely eventuallity is that we'll remove the article from our site. We won't ask you not to submit it elsewhere.
- All articles should have some semblence of spelling and grammar that is acceptable to the average reader. Foreign language articles are welcome, although we will need to have it checked for spelling and grammar etc. We will repair the average-level of spelling and grammar mistakes, but if something is of simian level, we'll return it to you for you to work on.
- All articles that focus on a band/group/label etc should include a link to their website and a link to a good quality photo that accurately represents the band/group/label if appropriate. A Banner is also useful. If you can acquire an electronic press kit, all the better.
- No submitters are to mis-represent this website in order to gain access to bands etc. While it is cool to contact a band, and say you are hoping to write an article to submit to Heavy Metal Nation, you should not say that you work directly for Heavy Metal Nation. In addition, any complaints from anyone regarding cyber- or real-stalking will result in a ban, and all existing articles from that submitter removed from the site. THIS HAS HAPPANED IN THE PAST. Please note that stalking is illegal, and that Heavy Metal Nation will cooperate with any law enforecement agency who contacts us regarding this serious crime.
- An article submitted to Heavy Metal Nation can be written by any person, so long as they are not the subject of the article (ie, don't review your own music etc). You or your manager/agent/publicist should not do this kind of thing. Your most rabid fans, however, you can encourage them to write whatever they like.
