Heavy Metal Nation is a place for fans of heavy, interesting music to come and read, write, and comment on articles about heavy music. Scars On BroadwayJohn Dolmayan said that the Scars on Broadway album would be a step away from System. That it is, not totally, though there are some songs, which are very Hypnotise era System Of A Down, some songs when you can almost expect Serj Tankian to start singing.

When the track “They Say” was released on the bands myspace, it was like marmite, loved by some, hated by others. A short while later Scars were supporting Metallica and playing festivals and having there set webcasted at KROQ’s Weenie Roast, Showcasing their better material and receiving good receptions from audiences throughout despite not releasing an album at that point in time.

The album is a great rock album, not as generic as expected, you could almost call it experimental, a great mix between fast and slow, light and heavy, and even a hint of electro in “Chemicals”, and many other stand out tracks that’ll trip you the fuck out.

Standout tracks

Serious – Great song to loosen you up for the rest of the album, a fast song, some good lyrics, very catchy.

Funny – The complete opposite of serious, slower tempo and ironically the lyrics are a lot more serious than serious.

Exploding/Reloading – Another fast song, with lyrics that don’t make too much sense, hell it’s all good, catchy from start to finish.

Stoner-Hate – A heavier song includes such lyrics as “supercalafrajalisticexpialidocious,” “mama mia” and “lalalala” enough said. Do I like it? Hell yeah!

World Gone Wrong – A fast and heavy intro with a catchy verse and a chorus which contains some sort of instrument which makes a noise that for some reason reminds me of the rainbow road in that Mario kart game on Nintendo 64.

Chemicals- An Electro/Rock song about drugs, could you guess? It’s fucking good though

Cute Machines – This track has a drum pattern on the chorus that seems unexpected on first listen, mean screams from Daron on this one

They Say – This song seems like it was written for the soul purpose of radio play and nothing else, it’s an okay song but compared to the rest of the album it just doesn’t fit right.

Final word

If you like system, Buy the album, if system isn’t your cup of tea, buy the album anyway, just buy it… DO IT!!!
