Heavy Metal Nation is a place for fans of heavy, interesting music to come and read, write, and comment on articles about heavy music. PsycropticDysie: This the first “All Australian” metal tour package in a long time and is long overdue. How did this all fall into place & do you think we may see more of these in the future?

Dave Haley: Since all the bands on the tour are all good friends, we had actually been talking about it for quite some time. All the bands had some time off at the proposed time frame of the tour so thats how it happened. Its really up to the public to whether there will be more tours such as this. If this is supported by people coming out to shows, then, yes, more tours like this will take place.

Dysie: Can you tell Heavy Metal Nation readers about your latest album release and how it would compare to your previous release?

Dave Haley: Our new album is “ob(servant)”. Its Psycroptic's strongest release to date without question. Its very hard to analyse your own band (haha), so pick up the album and check it out for your selves. It has the most groove of all Psycroptic material.

Dysie: How long will you guys be playing for & what can we expect to hear in the set?

Dave Haley: Each night varies, depending on a lot of different circumstances...what day it is, what venue, etc. On average we'll be playing around 8 or 9 songs a show. Not too little and not too much. The set will be quite varied in terms of the material selected. Come along and check it out for yourself.

Dysie: Australian metal crowds really lap up the band merchandise. What will you have on offer for the rabid punters?

Dave Haley: As always, we will have a few new tshirt and hoodie designs, as well as some older designs that are favourates among fans. As always, buying merch helps us a lot and will insure we can come back and tour your area!

Dysie: What is the best aspect of touring?

Dave Haley: The travel, seeing new places and meeting new people.

Dysie: What is the worst aspect of touring?

Dave Haley: Haha, the travel times and moving equipment!

Dysie: All bands on the bill are well experienced and have been forging themselves great names locally and internationally for a number of years. How do you see the Australian metal scene overall compared to where it was say 10 years ago?

Dave Haley: With the increased popularity of the internet, I think the professionalism of the scene has increased greatly...as now bands can compete on an international level. On a different side, I guess the internet helps shape the sound of bands more than 10 years ago, as people now have instant access to a lot more bands, so their listening tastes are much broader.

Dysie: Are there any Australian metal acts you have seen, heard or played with that in your opinion may have the talent to take their art to the next level?

Dave Haley: Oh, of course! There are so many great bands in the country. Its really hard to single out any particular bands as there are a lot. My suggestion to people is go check out for yourselves by going to local shows, or getting to international band's shows early to see the local support.

Dysie: Whats in the pipeline for the band upon the completion of this tour?

Dave Haley: We head back to Europe in August to play the festivals over there. We also have a DVD coming out later this year and we'll start working on new material. As always, we'll be keeping very busy!
